Moving to a new Data Center

Post by IrishDragon » Mon Jan 21, 2008 11:25 pm

Our bandwidth provider is moving to a new physical location in Plano, Texas. Right now you may experience some issues with routing, unusual
ping or some lag spikes due to this routing migration. We've noticed some routes are hitting Cogent (yuck) but this is just temporary and will go away after the move has taken place.

Our bandwidth provider will be moving us, physically, to the new datacenter this coming Saturday, Jan 19, 2007. There may be a 3 to 4 hour downtime period during this move. We will continue to keep you informed when it happens, and if the schedule changes.

We are told the new location has more carriers, better equipment, and more optimized routing.

Thank you.
It appears the move will not happen until next Saturday 07/26/2008.

Please be aware that your accounts and IP addresses will remain the same after the move takes place.

Neato mosquito bandito, hopefully when this is all set up everything will run even better. Plano is closer to where Bombs and I live, so we may experience better ping. Ever wonder how I win even though I'm a lowly {H} ? It's the sexy ping. B)

Well, it's been weeks with the nasty lag spikes.

I got the 2007 one :)

Yeah, lag spikes haven't been too bad though, me, elk, cyrax, and raik had a pretty decent FFA and there were no major problems.

when there's more than say.... 5 or 6 people on the server... it's a no go for anything if you like doing it without lag spikes.

How would you all feel if we moved the server to Atlanta?

No. Farther away from Californa. That means higher ping. :(

Not by much and as you had all proven earlier.. your pings will, for the most part drop by 20+ or in cali go up by 8-16
