Olympics

I hope everyone is enjoying the Olympics this summer! A great reminder that we can put aside cultural differences and focus on good clean healthy competitions.
Also a good reminder that we too should take the time to invest in our own physical fitness to see what we can make of ourselves.

Go world! B)

Also, grats London on a great opening ceremony.

200 hundred points to anyone who can spot a manx flag in the crowd. (Points don't translate into any prizes)

Shame that they got the N. Korea flag wrong at the absolute first opportunity too...proud to be british...

I'm a Londoner, which pretty much forces me to say this:

Olympics: Waste of money.

They have completely turned the city upside down to prepare for it, spent insane amounts of money that we will probably not get back and just inconvenienced everyone.

They've cut half of the already congested roads down for 'olympic lanes'. But the problem is, these aren't completely consistent and they merge in and out of regular roads. So all you'll get is olympic cars getting stuck behind regular traffic as they try to merge into the regular lanes.

I don't understand why instead of devoting half the roads to a group that will account for one of the smallest percentages of traffic just to get people to and fro...why don't they just leave earlier? :|

It took me about an hour extra to get home from my holiday yesterday just because of all the backed up traffic that wasn't even anywhere NEAR the Olympic stadium because it has such a knock on effect.

Anyway, now the Londoner in me has vented: I didn't see much of the opening ceremony but it looked pretty fancy and I hope it's a good olympics and that GB win many many golds! ^_^

Yes the Olympics has become an overwhelming financial burden on the host country and a logistical nightmare for the residents of the area

Question is, how would Greece be financially if they didn't host the Olympics?

They've only got worse and worse and it's been 8 years. Eek Gad!
